Dinnerware 5 week course
Join me to learn to design and create your very own dinnerware set. This class will take place at the Clayroom Leicester.
Over the course of 5 weeks, you will learn how to work with coiling and slab techniques, how to make appealing and functional pieces, what glazes and colours enhance the forms, and finish with your very own little set. I will walk you through the things I enjoy making and why I think these are useful and pretty.
This will be a hand building course. If you have been thinking about getting started in a craft this is the perfect course!
Each class consists of 2 hours. The first part of the class will consist of demonstration, and the rest of the time we will be making our dinnerware.
✹Week one:
In the first session we will focus on design and basic techniques. We will look at dinnerware pieces, inspiration, and I will walk you through how you can start designing simple pieces. I will demonstrate how to build in two ways: pinching/coiling and slab building. You will have a little bit of time to get yourself acquainted with the techniques briefly in preparation for our next session by creating a small snack bowl.
✹Week two:
We will focus on building flatware: we will build two plates, we will reinforce techniques for making strong joins and a lasting build.
✹Week three:
We will build 2 bowls with the coiling technique.
✹Week four:
We will make two tumblers, using either of the techniques you have learnt so far. I will demonstrate the glazing technique in preparation for our next class.
✹Week five:
The final week will be finishing and glazing our pieces.
If you wish to cancel your place on a workshop you must do so at least 10 days before it starts to receive a full refund. Cancellation must be made in writing or email. If you cancel your place less than 10 days before your workshop starts, you will only receive a refund of 50%. Alternatively you can reschedule and book onto another equivalent workshop.
NOTE: The class will need a minimum of 4 students to go ahead.
